TOTE BOARD WEBSITE DESIGN COMPETITION
Job well done!
THERE were plenty of pats-on-the-back at the prize presentation
ceremony of the Tote Board Website Design Competition on January 14,
2010 at The Pines.

Mr Tan Soo Nan, Chief Executive,
Tote Board, praised the five Polytechnics for a job “well done”and echoed the judges’
verdict on the overall high standards in design quality and innovative
appeal.
A total of 27 entries were received and cash prizes of $11,500 were given to the top five winners. Two HP netbooks, sponsored by
Hewlett Packard Singapore, were also awarded to the top-prize winners.
”I wish to congratulate the five winners who showed distinct talent in
their professional approach to the competition,” said Mr Tan.
“The Tote Board intends to use a combination of the winning entries to come up with a
distinctly unique new-look website which will give Singaporeans a clear
perspective of the Tote Board as a caring organisation.
“
Going on Tote Board’s endearing tagline, “Giving Hope, Improving Lives”, Mr Tan
appealed to the teenagers to play an “early role in helping the less fortunate”.
He said: “There are many avenues where you can contribute, with your
skills and talents, in offering pro bono, or free, services as a
positive way to give back to the community.”
Mr Tan sought assistance for “The Caring Fleet”,
a new pilot project to be launched next month, by the Tote Board,
to offer subsidised transport services for the disabled.
“They are looking
to publicise their project, through their new website, and I believe
you, the Polytechnic students, can lend them a helping hand in making
their website more intuitive and user friendly,” he said.
Mr Tan’s appeal,
almost instantly, drew quick response as three Polytechnic teams agreed
to help Mr B.K. Ng, the General Manager of “The Caring Fleet”.
