Tote Board is pleased to announce that it is contributing a further $301.9 million to the Tote Board Social Service Fund (TBSSF), for a period of three years, from FY2013 to FY2015.
Administered by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), the Fund supports critical and strategic social service programmes for the needy and disadvantaged, capability enhancement initiatives to uplift social service standards, and capital projects of Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs).
This donation represents the fourth and largest tranche of funds being channelled to the TBSSF. First set up in 2006, the Fund has seen a steady increase in support from Tote Board through the years, with a total amount of $624.70 million pledged to date.
The Board’s increase in funding reflects the increasing need for social services in Singapore, caused by issues arising from an ageing society, changes in the social fabric of families, combating higher costs of living, the need to provide better support to people with disabilities and continued support to uplift the capabilities of VWOs in Singapore.
