Elevating the Potential of Persons with Disabilities
Tote Board supports ELEVATE through the Enabling Lives Initiative (ELI) Grant, managed by SG Enable, Singapore’s focal agency for disability and inclusion. An initiative by the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC)
from Maya Dance Theatre, ELEVATE seeks to challenge the idea of what makes an artist.
Through dance, this programme strives to enable everyone, regardless of ability, to fulfil their true potential. As advocates of inclusivity, DADC helps Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to excel, finding
their independence, their creativity, and their voice. The initiative has seen remarkable success, with members being exposed to the international stage and to teaching opportunities that help them further their dreams.
ELEVATE also seeks to train PWDs with employable skills that help increase employability and improve quality of life. With these new skills, Jia Ying and Arassi have both found part-time employment in the
arts sector even as they take to the stage.
